The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is for those who are very unwell, elderly or about to undergo significant surgery.
When someone is seriously ill and may be dying, it is important to contact the Priest as soon as possible so that the Sacrament may be administered to the sick person whilst the person is still able to receive it. The Sacrament cannot be administered to someone who has died.
