Pilgrimage to the Chrism Mass, St Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore
Every 25 years, the Church celebrates a Jubilee Year. Jubilees are a wonderful opportunity to deepen our faith and experience the hope and mercy of our loving God ever more keenly through pilgrimage, prayer and acts of mercy.
We can also potentially receive a Plenary Indulgence in this Holy Year. There are a few ways to receive this indulgence. Learn more by reading the Decree on the Granting of Indulgence During the Jubilee Year
What is a Plenary Indulgence?
It is the remission of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven (therefore no further expiation is required in Purgatory).
Plenary indulgences obtained during the Jubilee Year can also be applied to souls in purgatory.
One of the ways you may receive it is by making a pilgrimage to one of the Diocesan Jubilee shrines, the most notable being St Cartage’s Cathedral in Lismore.
We would like to facilitate this for the parish by organising a parish pilgrimage to the Chrism Mass on the Monday of Holy Week (14th April).
The other conditions required for this indulgence are:
- to have a disposition of detachment from sin
- Reconciliation – making a sacramental confession
- Holy Communion and
- praying for the intentions of the Pope (prayer cards will be made available).
Pick up time is 5pm at St Anthony’s Church, Kingscliff with an approx. end journey time of 9.30pm.
